Overall, it was difficult to find acurate sources that also had good, helpful information. There was one site that I was able to find alot of good information on. This site was about.com. (http://contemporarylit.about.com/od/fantasy/fr/harryPotter1.htm) This website was the most useful because it gave alot of backgroud information on the book. It explained the story and also gave alot of additional, helpful things about the book. This made it much easier to understand several things as I read. This webiste also seemed the most trustworthy. The author knew exactly what she was talking about and you could see that in her page.
(http://www.mugglenet.com/books/quotes/harry.shtml) This website seemed the most bias. You could tell by the decoration of the site that they were in love with Harry Potter. It gave acurate quotes from several different scenes in the book. It also has a place for discussions with other people, fan pages, and games. This website seemed to be the most bias website. You could definitely tell they love this series.

28. Reflection on Findings and Process
During my research I learned alot about Harry Potter that I never realized before. Alot of different things that I learned about surprosed me alot. For the longest time I thought that Harry Potter was a book based on witchcraft and full of magic, but it's not. Yes, there is alot of magic in the book but it is not all bad. This surprised me alot. The most interesting thing that I discovered was how many positive lessons there were to learn in the book. For example, how important it is to treat others kindly. Despite the trials that Harry went through with other characters he still was a great friend and kind person to them.
During my research, I felt frustrated and happy at times. I felt frustrated because sometimes I would try to find things about my author and book but I knew the information I was reading was not accurate. This made reasearching difficult at times. The most exciting part of researching my book was hearing the authors comments. J.K Rowling had many positve comments to say. I enjoyed reading through some of the different things she had to say about the book because it showed me different perspectives on the book. If I had to do this project over again, I would try to dig deeper into J.K Rowlings quotes to try to give more of her thoughts and oppinions in my blog rather than the readers oppinions.

27) Finding Paragraph 3
The final question I had was how do people accept Harry once he gets into the wizard school since he is known to be the greatest wizard alive?
I found that many poeple fall in love with Harry but some do not like him at all. Alot of people want to be Harry's friend becuase he is such a powerful person. They want to learn things from him and be able to call him their friend. There are a few people such as Snape who despise Harry and will do anything he can to stop him from becoming succesful at Hogwarts. Their are a few classmates who also grow to dislike him becuase of being jealous. Overall, Harry is loved my almost everyone.
An example of Snape's harsh comments are when they are in the quadle match and snape is the referee. Snape tries to pull so many moves to make Harry fall down but he is one of the strongest wizards to ever live, so there is no way that Harry would fall.

26) Finding Paragraph 2
The second question that I orginally ask was Why do the families hate each other so much.
I believe that the reason Harry's aunt and uncle hate him so much is because they know his potential.
They know that if he becomes an amazing wizard that he will have so much power. His family is jealous becuase their son will not have the same things that Harry does. I believe the reason they hate each other so much is all becuase of jealousy.

25) Finding Paragraph 1
My first question was how did the family discover the Harry was a wizard?
The family found out that Harry was a wizard when his family was killed. Harry is living with his aunt and uncle who despises Harry and his family. His aunt and uncle found out Harry was a wizard when he survived the horrible accident that his parents did not survive. Harry was just a baby but was strong enough to make it through without getting hurt. His aunt and uncle knew all along, but Harry finds out when he gets to be a teenager by a letter accepting him into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

22) Quote, Caption, Citation
"I dont go looking for trouble, trouble usually finds me."
-Harry Potter
I think Harry is saying that he is trying to be a good kid but its hard. He wants to do what is right, he doesnt go out trying to cause trouble but he still manages to get into it. I think he is trying to do good, but with all the temptaions that comes along with being a wizard it is hard. He is given so many things like spells and material things that could get him into trouble but he tries to not take advantage of them.

21) Groups that have banned the book and Citation
Several groups around the country have agreed to ban the Harry Potter series in schools. For example, in 2007, a catholic pastor in Boston MA stated that these books should be banned. They "contained themes of witcraft and sorcery." He did not want his students to hear these things. He said it was "his job to protect the strong and the weak." Another example of a group who banned this series was in 2002 in Lewiston ME. They went as far as to shred coppies of the Harry Potter books the night before the movie was released. This stood as a symbol of how they diagreed with the books. The last example was in 2004 when people of Fort Hancock Texas said that the books were full of "mysticism" and "paganism." These are a few examples of how these books have been found controversial and why they have been banned.

20) Message Passage 2, Explanation, and Citation
"Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to
turn on the light."
Even though alot of negative attention is brought to the Harry Potter series, there are some positive messages to take away from these books such as quotes similar to this one. This quote is so true and sums up alot about life. If you are looking for happiness, I think it can be found even during the hardest times in life.
This quote reminds me that if you want happiness in life you have to remember to look at the positive things. If you look for it, you will have happiness. Passages like these are reasons why i think the Harry Potter series should lnot be banned. You can put negativity on anything if you look for reasons to. It is the same for positive things. If you look for the positive good things will come out of it.

19) Message Passage 1, Explanation, and Citation
"It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live."
Even though alot of negative controversy comes from the Harry Potter series, I do think there are some positve lessons to take from this book. For example, this quote can have several different positive meanings. It reminds me that if you spend all of your time focusing on the negative things, or dreams then how are you going to live?
If you spend most of your time sitting around waiting for your dreams to come true, they most likely arent going to. You have to be willing to put forth effort and fight for your dream. At the same time you canno forget to live. You have to live and go thru life in order for your dreams to come true. Don't dwell on the little things. Focus on the things which really matter.

17) Controversial Passage 3, Explanation and Citation
Hermione
says: "Devil's
Snare, Devil's Snare..."It's deadly fun, but will sulk in the sun!"
That's it! Devil's Snare hates sunlight! Lumos Solem!"
I believe this could easily be one of the most controversial passages in the book for many different reasons. This is a direct example of one of the spells they used in the book. Many people are against this book because of the witcraft and wizardry that she writes about. Even though it is just a book that is all about imagination, some are against the things she is writing about. Another reason is becuase it seems like they are mesing with the devil or devilish things in this quote. It seems like a perect quote that shows why some may take offence to this book and why it was banned.

16) Controverisal Passage 2, Explantion and Citation
"Harry walked more quickly. He was going to smash right into the barrier and the hed be in trouble- leaning foward on his cart he borke into a heavy run- the barrier was coming nearer and nearer- he wouldnt be able to stop- the cart was out of control- he was a foot away- he closed his eyes ready for he crash- It didnt come... he kept on running... he opened his eyes. A scarlet steam engine was waiting next to a platform packed with people. A sign overhead said Hogwarts Express, eleven o'clock."
This quote can be extremely controversial in several different ways. It shows the magic of Harry Potter but it also shows that it does not exist now days. The fact that Harry was able to run right through a barrier that the humans could not see at all was very exciting but not realistic. I could see where some readers would take this offensive if they did not believe in these things. Even though this book has been very magical and interesting to read, I could see where parts much like this one could be controversial.

15) Controversial Passage 1, Explanation and Citation
"Dear Mr. Potter,
We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted into Hogwarts schools of Witchcraft and Wizardry."
I believe this is a contraversial statement becuase witchcraft and wizardry is not real. In my oppinion these things are of the devil. This is where it becomes a contraverial statement because some do believe in these things. When you have some who do believe that that is ok and some peeople who do not, it becomes extremely contraversial. I personally do not agree with this statement because it is saying that Harry has been accepted into a school that is going to teach him these things. Magic is not a real lifestyle. You are not able to become invisible and slip through doors and fly on brooms. This is where this statement becomes contraversial to it's readers.

14) Quote, Caption, Citation
"Death is just life's next big adventure." -J.K Rowling
In my oppinion, this quote sumarizes life. If our hearts are in the right place, then we should have no fear of dying becuase we know who we are going to spend eternity with. I think this is a really great quote that is short but powerful.

11) Info on the Author.
Joanne Rowling is the author of the Harry Potter books. She is also known as J.K Rowling. Rowling was born on July 31, 1965 in a town called Yate near Bristol. Since she was a young girl, she dreamed of writing. In 1990 when she was stuck on a train one afternoon, she came up with the idea of Harry Potter. It took her six years to complete the first book. Duing this time she moved to Portugal to be a teacher.
Overtime, J.K Rowling was sued many times for plagiarism. Each of the claims were dismissed. She has become very wealthy as a result from writing the series. As of Summer 2011, she was named the best selling author in the history of literature. Rowling has also been the first author to become a billionare from writing books. She has writtern several other books in the series which have been banned. On June 30, 1997 the first book in the series was released. I believe she does try to teach lessons throughout this story. These are just a few facts I discovered about my books author J.K Rowling.

10) Describe the Ban
I believe "Harry Potter" was banned for many diferent reasons. Censorship is one reason for it being banned. I believe there are a few reasons where this book could have been censored. Harry Potter is a book filled with magic and unbelievable things. Some parents, and schools may not want their children to read the series.
Several parts in the book shoud be banned to young readers. Even though thses books are very interesting, I can see where some parents may not allow their children to read them which makes them questioned. Some of the magic and things the characters do throughout the book could be risky for younger children to read. These are a few examples on why I think my book has been banned.

9) Describe your Book.
So far Harry Potter has been an excellent book. It is full of magical stories that are very interesting to read. In the first book, Harry is just a small boy. Some of his family does not like him since he is a Potter. They do not want anything to do with him at all but someone has to take care of this young child. These members of his family are the antagonist in the story. You can tell they are hard hearted.
The protagonist in the story would be Harry Potter. Even though he is young he is very strong. He plays a major roll in the story. There are several important characters mentioned so far throughout the story. Dumbledoor, Dudley Dursley (which is Harry's first cousin), James Potter, and Lily Evans are significant characters in this book as well. Two other main characters are Petunia Dursley and Vernon Dursley. These two are Harry's wealthy aunt and uncle. He lives with them for ten horrible years.

8) What is Censorship? Citation
Censorship is when books, music, movies, etc gets banned becuase of things that could be offensive to it's readers. If a book or music is questioned it can be censored. These type of items can be banned from young readers and in schools. For example, my book Harry Potter has been banned. Books like these are ones that are usually marked censored.

7. What is the 1st Amendment?
The first amendment states that you have the freedom of speech, and also the right to assemble peacefully. Having the right to assemble peacefully means that you are allowed to come together to do one thing without getting into trouble for it. For example, worshiping. A church could come together and freely worship without being made to hide or worship without anyone knowing. Freedom of speech means that you are able to say what is on your mind (to a certain extent) without getting into trouble for saying it.

3) What I would like to know about my book "Harry Potter"
There are alot of things I am curious to find out about my book "Harry Potter." One specific thing is how everyone finds out that Harry Potter is a wizard. When the book starts out, noone knows that he is a wizard. So im curious to find out how his secret gets out. The last question I have is why do the families hate each other so much? It seems like since they were close family that they would love each other and be closer. These are the questions im curious to discover in my book!

2) What I know about my book so far.
So far, I don't know very much about my book "Harry Potter." I know that it is a very magical book that includes alot of interesting characters. The only fact that I know about my book, is that the people who were Harry Potters friends and family, tried to hide that he was really a wizard! My friends and family have told me everything that I know about my book so far.
1) The story behind my book choice.
I chose the book "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone." One reason why I chose this is because it seemed very interesting. I have heard alot of positive comments on Harry Potter which made me want to read it! I can't wait to learn about each character, and it will also be fun to read through all the magical stories!
