The first amendment states that you have the freedom of speech, and also the right to assemble peacefully. Having the right to assemble peacefully means that you are allowed to come together to do one thing without getting into trouble for it. For example, worshiping. A church could come together and freely worship without being made to hide or worship without anyone knowing. Freedom of speech means that you are able to say what is on your mind (to a certain extent) without getting into trouble for saying it.
